First Step

NRA FIRST Steps Pistol is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific pistol action type for classes of four or fewer students. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific pistol action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular pistol model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.

Basic Pistol 

This course is at least 8-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

Private Instruction

Work on the fundamentals of shooting and learn new practice techniques while enjoying one on one instruction. Gun safety is reviewed and emphasized at every session. Equipment needed: semi-automatic handgun or revolver, 50 rounds of ammunition, snap caps

Cost: $40 per hour

Group Instruction

This 3-hour class focuses on building strong shooting fundamentals while helping you create a practice plan that includes both dry fire and live fire drills that you can practice safely on your own.

The course includes:

  • Safe gun handling techniques
  • Building strong fundamentals
  • How to practice perfectly – at home (dry fire)
  • How to practice perfectly – at the range (live fire)

Equipment needed: semi-automatic handgun or revolver, 50 rounds of ammunition, snap caps

Cost: $75.00 per person   Limit of 10 students

Personal Safety and Awareness

A 2 hour discussion for those who are looking at how they can better prepare themselves to face a multitude of threats, Situational Awareness 101 will give you the basics in how to be aware of your surroundings and to know when something is just not right. Cost of the course is $25.00 and training will include
